 Gangamoola has been designated as a world heritage site by the UNESCO. The hills are also a part of the Kudremukh bio-diversity cluster. Three mighty rivers  Tunga, Bhadra and Netravathy - originate from this hill range. There is a temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi inside the dense jungles in the Gangamoola Hills, which is also known as Varaha Parvata.
