Fujiyama

The Courtyard Cuisines: Asian, Japanese

About

Super Japanese fare in a sleek, but dramatic environment. A sweep of drapes cascade down to a dining area characterised by the slim designer chairs and tables - as with many Japanese eateries, there's that feeling that you're eating on stage. Softening the effect are random palms and a tank of what one presumes to be nervous fish. There's a broad range of Japanese fare, and by no means just sushi. If you're shy of raw fish, there are plenty of cooked options, and even the fish-shy will find meaty alternatives such as the beef katsu (crumbed fillet). Fans of sushi are pampered with a remarkable array served in a giant conch. You're given a sherry and a nori handroll when you arrive. Wines are available, but go with the Japanese specialities - sake, Sapporo and Kirin beers.
