This arboretum houses an excellent collection of various trees and shrubs. The project began in the early 19th century and now includes many rare specimens from as far afield as Japan, China, South America, the Himalayas and North America. The Arboretum also boasts walled gardens with important collections; it holds records of dates of planting, country of origin and rates of growth from the early 19th century onwards. While you're in the vicinity don't miss the opportunity to check out the wonderful Fota Wildlife Park.
