Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, [2], 630 S. Oakes St, open established in 1867 to protect frontier settlements and in 1889 the last soldiers left and it was deactivated, now a historic preservation project and mueseum. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3, adults; $2.00, military and senior citizens; and $1.50 for children 6-17.
