A demanding walk up to the summit of Cuilcagh which requires considerable effort. However, the view right across Ireland - from the Atlantic Ocean at Co. Sligo, to the Irish Sea at County Louth is magnificent. The walk up to the summit passes lovely stone features - including an archway over the river. There is a delightful mix of woodland criss-crossed by many small clear streams and excellent views over Upper Lough Erne. This walk is only for the most experienced of climbers, weather can change dramatically and there are steep uphill stretches, rough tracks, peat bogs and unsteady ground to navigate. Correct equipment is required i.e. good footwear, gaiters, a compass, warm and waterproof clothing, emergency food and equipment.
