Located behind the old Reserve Bank of India building in the bustling Fort area, Five Spice serves delicious Chinese and Thai cuisine at reasonable prices. The restaurant is divided into two sections, air-conditioned and non-air conditioned; the prices are lower in the latter. Browse through the menu and find authentic dishes like fried rice with vegetables, fried and steamed wantons, dim-sums, corn-curd and spicy flavored curries in various sauces (black-bean, szechuan and so on). The portions are gigantic and filling, but what truly steals the show is the list of desserts. With names like "Mission Impossible" and "Death by Chocolate", you can imagine what you're in for! Wine is available by the glass, but the list is less than impressive. Reservations are not accepted and on weekends it's a task to get a table. The eatery also has another branch in the western suburb of Bandra.
