This is a magical place. A huge, sparkling lido in the heart of Brockwell park, it has plenty of room for sunbathing, a barbecue, a tea stand, a happy vibe and lots of good 'people-watching' potential. On a muggy summer's day, floating on your back in the middle of the pool and gazing up at the arty banners waving around the edge and the trees outside is pure heaven. Weekends can get packed, so the weekend brunch is a good idea: you can swim and breakfast off the barbie before the crowds arrive. Another good deal are the occasional Friday restaurant evenings which offer poolside dining and floodlit swimming. The lido is open available for private parties. If swimming's not your bag, the 'treatment rooms' around the edge of the pool offer yoga, meditation and tai chi. Children get the benefit of a range of morning kids' events and 'whippersnapper' workshops: everything from acrobatics to African drumming.
