This short nature trail leads along the eastern islet of Anacapa Island. This island is the closest to the mainland and receives more visitation than any of the other islands in the park. The East Anacapa Island Trail follows a path of one and a half miles. It begins at sea level at the landing area. Visitors climb a staircase of 154 steps to reach the island plateau. From the top of the staircase the trek is an easy stroll with great views of nearby islets and islands, as well as interesting flora of East Anacapa. The trail leads past the ranger station and to the island museum within the first half mile. At the museum visitors can get an interpretive brochure that describes the unique plants, animals and natural and man-made features of the island. From the museum the trail leads westward. A northern fork leads through the interior of the island and to Cathedral Cove Overlook. The southern fork leads along the sea cliffs. The two forks meet at the campground. Beyond the campground the trail leads westward and makes a small loop. The loop passes an overlook, Inspiration Point. There are benches places at the view point, which lies on the southern side of the islet. The site provides views of Middle and West Anacapa islets, as well as Santa Cruz Island in the distance.
