The temples in and around Kyoto with their strict opening hours until 5pm don't give the visitors much time for a nice and relaxing lunchbreak in a restaurant. Going to the convenience stores and eating sandwiches and Onigiris is a solution for one or two days. But sooner or later you might not want to see any Onigiri anymore and will desperately start looking for some healthy stuff or fresh fruits.
