About

If you're feeling adventurous and want to tempt your palate, head here -- the finest restaurant on the island. Its chef and owner is Bo Nilsson, the former chef of Operakällaren, arguably the finest restaurant in Stockholm. Branching out on his own, he has taken over this 17th-century building, constructed of orange-colored brick, on a small square in the heart of town and has established a showcase for his own refined cuisine. He makes great use of market-fresh produce and produces seasonally based dishes that are truly sublime. Just a 2-minute walk from the harbor, here diners relax comfortably, perusing an enticing menu of the chef's specialties, the signature dish being Gotland lamb with fresh asparagus served with a freshly made hollandaise. Before that, though, you might begin with a tempting platter of Baltic herring, or else a pot of mussels flavored with chorizo sausage. Always count on a fresh fish platter along with a selection of other main dishes, which can range from the humble to the noble, depending on the night. Desserts are freshly made and frequently changing, but are always a delight.
