D.L. Bliss State Park

About

D. L. Bliss State Park is a state park of California, USA, on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is named in honor of timber and railroad magnate Duane Leroy Bliss. Notable features include Rubicon Point Light — the highest-elevation lighthouse in the United States — and a popular trail to a large balancing rock. In 1929 Bliss's heirs donated 744 acres (301 ha) to the state for the park.[1] It has since grown to 2,149 acres (870 ha).[2] It is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of the city of South Lake Tahoe and adjoins Emerald Bay State Park.
