About
The Design Museum of South Africa exists to promote local and international contemporary design. It is housed within a 100-year old foundry in what was once Cape Town's old warehouse district, but is currently a fashionable area replete with restored buildings. The museum features disciplines such as graphics, interior design, architecture, products, clothing, textiles, ceramics, and jewellery design. The permanent collection of 20th century chairs is on view periodically throughout the year, while the museum also displays temporary exhibits on a topical theme. A museum store stocks an interesting array of designer items from around the world.
