DEPARTMENT OF EARTH SCIENCE MUSEUM

University Of Ghana, Accra, Ghana

About

The Department of Earth Science Museum is on the University of Ghana campus, Legon. It used to be called the Department of Geology. It has various objects preserved. You can visit the museum from Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.00pm. There is a lunch break from 12pm to 1.30pm. The Museum started in 1950 with items brought from Achimota where it used to be before the University came to legon. In the museum, you can learn about the various types of rocks. Some of the rock exhibits come from all over the world. You will find sedimentary structures, fossils, rock forming minerals and other items of earth science interest. My favourite item I found in the lab is the 50 year old cutting and spinning tool that still works today.
