Creating an indoor style picnic, the ethos of dela Restaurant is more than a restaurant but a food venue where people can meet, share and enjoy artisan food and wines in an earthy, cosy ambience. The name ‘dela’ aptly translates to mean share and source in a variety of dialects where diners can savour a delectable Sharing Plate accompanied with a glass of wine or sample a variety of smaller bites from the Tasting Plates. The menu also includes traditional main dishes, along with a selection of healthy salads and tempting homemade desserts and baked products. A carefully chosen handpicked wine list perfectly complements the menu with all wines expertly sourced from small, boutique vineyards. The natural ethos of the menu is also reflected in the interior design and vibe of dela Restaurant. Adopting very earthy tones the colour scheme creates a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere with a simplistic approach to the design. The culinary team use only the finest of Irish ingredients and create healthy, wholesome dishes. dela Restaurant works with quality local suppliers including; the finest cuts of meat from Brady’s butchers of Athenry, seafood catch from Gannet’s Fishmongers, free range pork from Pigs on the Green along with Sheridan’s cheeses and chutney’s ensuring fresh, seasonal dishes. Following on from their involvement in successfully developing the ‘Gourmet Greenway’ at the Mulranny Park Hotel in Mayo, dela Restaurant is owned and managed by Galway natives Joe and Margaret Bohan. The menu is inspired by the couple’s travels across Europe, in particular Oslo, Berlin and walking the Camino de Santiago. Margaret Bohan is also a keen gardener, developing the ‘dela garden’ where she is growing a selection of the herbs and salad leaves used in the restaurant, while the dela brood of hens supply the eggs used for weekend brunch! While Joe Bohan has been following the craft beer revolution in Ireland and is currently brewing trial batches of beer. dela Restaurant is located at 51 Lower Dominic Street, Galway city and is opened for Dinner from 5pm ‘til late Wednesday to Sunday, serves Lunch Monday to Friday from 12-3pm and Weekend Brunch from 12-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Late night diners who fancy a nibble with their tipple can savour the Night Owl menu.
