About

The PZG Cultural Centre in Krakow is one of the cultural and educational centres in the Małopolskie Voivodship. It gathers around 3,000 persons deprived of hearing. The Centre has always been managed either by persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, as they understand the cultural needs of the deaf and who run the centre in the way most beneficial for this group of people. Community rehabilitation of the deaf takes the form of promoting education, culture, art, tourism, and sport. The centre becomes "another home" for the death: it organises numerous events, parties, seasonal and social meetings, competitions, as well as workshops and sessions in culture and education. The events also concentrate on arts, training and integration courses; lectures; excursions to destinations in Poland and abroad; pilgrimages; outdoor painting sessions and individual and group exhibitions, general entertainment and other group events with an interpreter into the sign language. The Cultural Centre runs a library and video rental centre loaning subtitled videos. The Centre encompasses a number of clubs. The painting club is open from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesdays, the chess club from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesdays, while other clubs operate during the opening hours of the Cultural Centre. Their number includes the 'Watra' tourist club, book club, photography club, computer club, video and films club, OAP club, youth club, skiing club, and the 'Krakowiak' angling club which was established early in 2002.
