Varanasi, in spite of being a pilgrimage spot, has amazing scenic beauty. This is the reason why most tourists opt for an early morning cruise when the dawn light is just setting in and the temperature is cool and pleasant. The city looks spectacular bathed in the light of dawn. Sunset trips are equally popular. There are different kinds of boat trips such as the one that heads south between the Dasaswamedh Ghat and the Harishchandra Ghat while others head past most of the ghats, including the Assi Ghat.
