Hilary Jenkinson of Crannmor Pottery in Roundwood, County Wicklow has been creating her own pottery by traditional handthrowing methods for over 20 years. Hillary creates three unique ranges called Moss, Cornflower and Silk and all her work is hand thrown on an electric wheel using stoneware clay. Preferring straight lines to the more traditional bellied pots, her shapes are based on old pewter beer tankards. The simple motif of a Celtic spiral, applied with a sponge, is used to decorate her Cornflower and Willow ranges.Her Silk range, which was greatly inspired by travels to the southern hemisphere, is more simplistic in its design which fits in with the more modern lifestyle. Hillary also designs and creates specialised pieces for galleries and commissions.
