Le Cour du Commerce Saint-André is a tiny street that opened in 1735 and is still paved with haphazard cobblestones today. Many of the boutiques, cafés and restaurants along the pedestrian-only street have stood there since the 18th Century. Le Cour du Commerce Saint-André is jam-packed with monumental mementos of French history. Jean-Paul Marat published L'Ami du Peuple, a newspaper that circulated during the French Revolution, at No. 8. At No. 9, Tobias Schmidt constructed the prototype of the guillotine. The remains of the oldest wall in Paris are at No. 4, and the back entrance to one of the oldest cafés in Paris, Le Procope, is here, too. - Betsy Mikel
