COS, short for Collection of Style, feels like an upscale H&M. In fact, that's exactly what it is. The same company that is known worldwide for its cheap fashion is taking it up a notch. COS styles are better tailored, are available in nicer materials like cashmere and silk, and are more grown up than those of its sister store. Almost everything in the store is solid-colored and quite basic. The Paris location, which opened in the spring of 2009, is the perfect place to find almost any Parisian must-have, such as a sophisticated cocktail dress or a simple no-frills cardigan. The prices, on the other hand, are nowhere close to being Parisian. Most of COS's clothes are priced within reason. - Betsy Mikel
