Comedor Nikkai
San Telmo
Cuisines: Asian, Japanese
About
Located inside the Japanese Association of Argentina building, this gem of a restaurant offers traditional Japanese cuisine in a clean, bare dining room off of a main hall. The menu is quite extensive and the sushi is a bargain, as is the sake. Wander farther down the hall to peek into the martial arts classes, or watch some Japanese satellite tv programs. The tables fill up quickly on weekend nights, so call to make a reservation if you want to be sure to hold a spot. Request a menu in English if you have trouble reading Spanish translations of Japanese dishes. Since it's located on a shadowy block in San Telmo in a windowless building, you could easily walk right past the door. Keep your eye out for the huge wooden doors adorned with unimposing Japanese characters.
