The Columbus Center is a shopping and leisure located in the town of Riyadh, in Lisbon. This building is located next to the promenade Lusíada and the Second Circular, the bus station next to the building and the subway station from the Military allow visitors easy access to the site. It was inaugurated on 16 September 1997. The architecture of the area and its original decor, were based in the Market Place Shopping Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and adapted to the time of the Portuguese discoveries, one of the most important of the History of Portugal. The squares and streets within the center have names alluding to the sixteenth time, such as Avenue of the Discoveries and square Tropic of Cancer. Between 2007 and 2009, the center was completely renovated its interior, blending contemporary themes to the originals. It has enough commerce and shoeshine, clothing stores, food stores, stationery stores, a chapel, a supermarket, etc.. It also has movie theaters, amusement parks, and occasional exposure. When it opened was the largest shopping center in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. The Towers of Colombo, under the original project as part of Colombo, only began to be built in 2007 by a process of embargo by the city of Lisbon, however resolved by the courts. The East Tower has been completed and the West Tower will be completed in March 2010
