In the concert series in Harpa - Reykjavík concert hall and conference centre this summer you will be presented with classic Icelandic music in programmes consisting of some of the most beloved Icelandic song, folk-song arrangements, hymns and national-songs. The music in the works and life of Nobel laureate Halldór Laxness will be revealed and the part women play in Icelandic music expolored — both a cappella and accompanied by piano, guitar, Icelandic langspil and stone-harp . The concert series consists of 5 programmes this summer. The performers are young Icelandic musicians, many of whom have already been noticed for their work, both in Iceland and abroad. All the programmes are sung in Icelandic but annotated in English to aid foreigners in getting acquainted with classic Icelandic music. One of the leading classical singers in Iceland, Bjarni Thor Kristinsson, is the artistic director of Classical Concert Company Reykjavik.
