Civic Museums

About

Civic Museums: the Archaeological Ethnological Civic Museum contains the earliest evidence of the presence of human beings in the Modena area. Alongside materials from the Neolithic era, the Copper Age, the Bronze Age and the first half of the Iron Age, evidence may also be seen of Etruscan, Celtic and Gallic rule and of Roman Modena. The ethnological collections include exhibits from New Guinea, pre-Columbian Peru, South America, Africa and Asia. The Civic Art Museum collections, result of generous private endowments, of acquisitions an of findings from the territory, still continuing today, document aspects of modenese history and culture from XIX to XX century, and are distinguished by their variety and richness: paintings, ceramics, ancient fabrics, musical instruments, scientific instruments and weapons.
