As soon as you enter City Bakery your mouth starts watering at the sight of donuts, biscuits, rolls and other baked delicacies. This place has made a sterling reputation for itself over the last 35 years. It is now one of Mumbai's permanent fixtures. Some very typical local stuff to buy here are 'Brun Pau' which is a hard bread and tastes delicious with 'Maska' or butter, a favorite breakfast for Mumbaikars, which gives perfect satisfaction when had with hot, sweet Indian chai. It is open early in the morning at 5:30 when you get bread right from the oven. They are also famous for walnut biscuits, jam rolls and aloo (potato) toast. Western tourists missing breads, donuts and buns might want to visit this bakery. Make sure you take your own carry bag with as they won't give you one.
