About
Don't despair as the taxi heads out of town, past row after row of falling-down, Socialist-era housing projects. You're headed toward one of the best meals in Lódz, and one of the city's best-kept dining secrets. Perched between two ghastly apartment blocks is a little oasis of '50s jazz and fresh flowers. The menu is perched somewhere between home cooking and haute cuisine, with salads, pierogies, pasta dishes, and some seriously good mains centered on pork, chicken, and boiled beef. The tagliatelle with brie and fresh tomatoes is a creative vegetarian option. It's about 3km (2 miles) from the center of town, so a taxi (15zl/$6.50/£4.05) each way is the sanest option.
