I n the wake of the massive restoration of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in 2000, fully funded by the Italian government for the great Jubilee, born in 2001, on the initiative of the Dominican community of the convent, Opera Santa Maria Novella, founded as a not-for-profit organization.
In fact, since 1868, following the laws of the abolition of ecclesiastical property and according to the agreement signed in September 3, between the City and the rectors of churches, the Community of the Dominicans took on the obligation to provide for the maintenance of worship and its officiatura ordinary and extraordinary, therefore becoming responsible for the pastoral and liturgical service of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella.
