About
Named after whalers who made chowder from the bay's abundant seafood, Chowder Bay is located on the southern side of Sydney's Middle Head peninsula. Managed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, this charming waterfront village is nestled between stunning harbourside frontage and a steep backdrop of natural bushland. Chowder Bay is the perfect spot for a day trip. Grab a meal at one of the waterfront cafes and restaurants, wander around the historic buildings or spend the afternoon swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, or bushwalking. A great way to visit Chowder Bay is to incorporate it into a walk between Taronga Zoo and Balmoral Beach. The walking tracks offer spectacular harbour views and scenic bushland settings. Chowder Bay is a few minutes' drive from Mosman and 20 minutes to Sydney's central business district. Car parking is available, as well as a direct bus service to the city and a public jetty.
