The eponymous Chico & Alaide are bartender/waiter and head chef respectively at this friendly botequim (relaxed bar-restaurant) in Leblon. The pair are also co-owners, and their enthusiasm for their business venture is visible in the lovingly prepared meals and bar snacks and the permanently happy demeanour of Chico as he serves the customers. The list of petiscos (light bar snacks) is as long as your arm, and it is well worth trying the bolinho da Alaide which sees a potato batter filled with shrimp and Brazilian soft cheese. There are squid, fish and meat dishes on the menu too, along with an extensive list of empadas - little pies filled with everything from chicken to sundried beef.
