Chadsey Lake
About
As well as being part of the Trans Canada Trail, this walk comprises a section of the Centennial Trail, constructed by the Canadian Youth Hostels Association in 1967 and 1971, that runs from Simon Fraser University to Manning Park. It traverses the north slope of Sumas Mountain, an area of mixed forest with plenty of tall timber among the maples and alders. The region is interesting botanically and can be explored as early as April, when spring flowers are emerging. Some of the plants likely to be blooming in these woods in spring are vanilla leaf, trillium, bleeding heart, false and star-flowered Solomon's seal, yellow violets, fringe cup, pyrola and coral root. A large area of the forest is carpeted with fern moss. The trail reaches semi-open bluffs affording glimpses through the trees of the Fraser Valley. © Copyright Jean Cousins Published by Greystone Books. All Rights Reserved.
