The lower end of the atrium belonging to the oldest historic monument in South America, the Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, houses the Centro Cultural Tiánguez and once you pass through the entrance porch, you are greeted by a universe of color and indigenous charm. Antiques, traditional sweets from the Ecuadorian mountains, ceramics, masks, gold and silver jewelry and wooden carvings from the different ethnic groups of the jungle make up this display of handicrafts in this much visited building.
