Chennai central is also knownas (Madras central) was built in 1873 A.D at park town as second terminals to deconised the erstwhile royapuram harbour station which was being utilised for port movments. Madras central was built in the gothic revival style by george hardinge and consisted just four platforms The station was later modification with addition of central clock other changes by Robert fellows chisholm.
