Locals love to fish for rainbow trout in the McCloud River near Dunsmuir. The river is world-renowned for its rainbows, and serious anglers flock to the lower part of the river where the water and the fish are heavier, and the crowds thinner. In late fall, the upper part of the river is a good place to catch big brown trout as well. Stock up on lures and supplies at Ted Fay Fly Shop downtown.
