Zheleznodorozhny (former Gerdauen) is famous among tourists and local people due to preserved the atmosphere of an ancient town with its narrow stone streets and a castle on the hill, old half-timbered houses of the XIV century in the heart of the village. Since 1325, Gerdauen mentioned in the Teutonik summaries, a stone castle, mill and dam, through which the lake was formed, were built by them. The height of the church tower is over 40 meters, it is a fine example of medieval architecture.
