Carré d'Art/Musée d'Art Contemporain

Place de la Maison Carré

About

Across the square stands the modern-day twin of the Maison Carrée, a sophisticated research center and exhibition space that contains a library, newspaper kiosk, and art museum. Its understated design from 1993 was inspired by (but doesn't overpower) the ancient monument nearby. The museum's permanent expositions are often supplemented with temporary exhibits of contemporary art. Note: The view from this modern building's terrace allows you to rise above the roaring traffic and presents a panorama of ancient monuments and medieval churches.
