About
Carnac Point, a beautiful mountain peak, is one of the famed tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar. It is named after Sir James Rivett Carnac, Governor of the Bombay Presidency, from 1839 to 1842, under the British Raj. He was mesmerised by the scenic beauty of Mahabaleshwar; hence, as a tribute to his love for this nature's gift, the point was named after him. The peak proffers panoramic views of lush hills, splendid landscape and clear blue sky. Visitors can admire the lovely sunset with a view of the Babington Point in the forefront.
