Cappello Pasticceria

Via Colonna Rotta 68

About

Palermo is proud of this wonderful patisserie, hidden on a winding street behind the central Piazza Indipendenza. Salvatore Cappello's patisserie has been here since the '60s when, with the help of his uncle and chef, he turned the family dairy store into a Café, selling typical Sicilian pastries. During the years, Cappello improved his skills taking part in many culinary courses and competitions, winning several prestigious prizes which are shown off on the shop walls. Nowadays he still offers top-quality traditional pastries like sfingi, cannoli, Cassata and Martorana, but he is especially famous for the newer recipes which utilize the best quality chocolates and the renowned Sicilian Bronte pistachio. Cappello has a huge assortment of fine chocolate bars and chocolate candies, with nuts or fruits, and filled with cream or liquor. The most sought-after item is certainly the gorgeous Setteveli cake, a delicacy of several soft chocolate cream layers. Kenya and Volo are other successful chocholate cakes, as well as a delightful choice of fruit creations which are all worth tasting.
