About
This huge leisure complex, only four kilometers (2.5 miles) from the historic town of Agde, was mostly built in the 1960s around a small harbor at the foot of the extinct volcano of Mont St Loup. Among the many attractions of this enormous seaside playground are sports centers, a casino and giant leisure centers such as Aqualand. The Musée d'Ephèbe provides an interesting contrast, hosting various archeological exhibitions. There are fine sandy beaches and black basalt cliffs, while just off shore is a volcanic island on which stands the 16th-century Fort Brescou. The resort is equally famous for the large nudist colony of Héliopolis, located just to the north of the town.
