Café Restaurant M'Rabet

Médina (Bab Ménara)

About

A century ago, some famous Tunisian musicians came to play in this café-restaurant. It has been restored with the help of the Association of Protection of the Medina. Concerts are still held there occasionally. The café, which is open all day long, has magnificent green-and-red pillars and mats lying on the floor. The patio is a real haven in the middle of the medina. The café is frequented by a good balance of tourists, connoisseurs, and students, which contributes its welcoming atmosphere. The well-reputed restaurant above the café is pretty touristy. It benefits from the exceptional setting and offers a correct Tunisian menu with generous portions of lamb or chicken couscous. The meal is TND 15 on average. -N.L.
