Café del Mar

About
This restaurant sits on the corner of a busy street close to the Ministry of Sound night club, but it's far enough away that the party beat doesn't intrude, and close enough that it's just a quick walk down to the beach after a light dinner for a night of dancing. It has a nice selection of sandwiches and salads for lunch, but the place comes alive after dark with just the right balance of conversational hubbub and soft-but-upbeat music. Café del Mar is run by a pair of Swedish chefs who came here for the sun and the nightlife, and the steaks and pasta have an excellent reputation. The decor -- a stylishly lit combination of red and orange walls hung with underwater photographs of brightly colored local fish -- however, goes better with the fried noodles with shrimp, perfectly cooked with onion and peppers. The thin-but-tasty chocolate cake is the perfect finishing touch. (Though the pineapple pie with ice cream is also tempting.)
