Bundjalung National Park is located between Evans Head and Iluka. A vast area of coastal plain, heath land and solitary beaches, a unique feature of this national park is the coffee rock formations along the beach in the northern part of the park. Other features include the Jerusalem Creek Peninsula, freshwater lagoons, mangrove mudflats and rare rainforests at Woody Head. The Esk River starts and finishes in this park.The beaches (unpatrolled) suit surfing, fishing, canoeing and swimming. Four wheel drive beach access is available from Shark Bay to south of Black Rocks (no access to the Black Rocks camping area from Beach and pre-booking with NPWS required for Black Rocks camping Area). Camping and cabin accommodation available at Woody Head. Camping fees apply (bookings recommended). There are five picnic areas near Iluka, including Iluka Bluff with a great whale-watching lookout and cultural heritage display in the picnic shelter.
