Brigante is owned by a Greek Australian who wanted to bring a little piece of Italy to Syntagma Square. While it might not be easy to pinpoint on a map in concept, it's ideally located for those walking back and forth from Syntagma Square to Makriyiannis Avenue along busy Amalias Avenue. All of that frustration with crossing Athenian roads, dodging sidewalk-blazing motorcycles, and throngs of walkers at varied paces can be dissolved in a few scoops of their excellent gelato, a slice of focaccia with fresh spinach and cheese, or an expertly pulled shot of espresso. The decor is clean and bright, gleaming with chrome stools and countertops. The staff is friendly, smiling, and helpful; indispensable qualities for such a high traffic area.
