Bribie Island Recreation Area Hiking is a treasure trove of plants and animals. The island is fringed by white-sand beaches. Heaths and freshwater lagoons support many birds, while thousands of shorebirds feed and roost nearby. Dugong thrive in protected waters. There are five camping areas on Bribie Island Recreation Area, including beach camping. Poverty Creek is a large camping area with open, grassy sites and shady trees, and is suitable for camper-trailers and group camping.
