Gift certificates are available. Bonsai Island offers tuition for individuals, couples and groups. Lessons are conducted by arrangement, according to season, and generally run for two hour. See an extensive range of conifers, Australian natives, broadleaved evergreens, deciduous, flowering and fruiting examples in all bonsai styles including group plantings of little forests in a dish. The displays feature trees at their seasonal peak, so any time of year is a great time to visit Bonsai Island. Potting, re-styling, bonsai boarding and advisory services also available. What is Bonsai Bonsai is a horticultural art. Woody plants are grown in shallow containers and styled to resemble scale-models of the mature tree in nature. Bonsai need sunlight, air movement, water, nutrients and a substrate in which to grow. That's the horticultural element, and it's the same as in any other form of gardening.
