One of Victoria's best bets for seafood, the Blue Crab combines excellent fresh ingredients and straightforward preparation. It also has a great view -- floatplanes slip in and out while you're dining, little ferries chug across the harbor, and the sun sets slowly over the Sooke Hills. Like other top-end restaurants in town, the Crab sources much of its ingredients locally, but you might also find scallops from Alaska or lamb from New Zealand. For lunch or dinner you can tuck in to tasty offerings such as seafood chowder or a smoked salmon and crab sandwich. The award-winning wine list (Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from 2003-07) features midrange and top-end vintages, drawn mostly from B.C., Washington, and California. The service is deft and obliging.
