The Bislett Games, part of the international athletics Golden League, is one of the few major sporting events to take place every year in Norway. The event attracts the biggest names in the world of athletics and has been the scene of numerous world records over the years. Many of the athletes actually try to reach their season's peak here. The competition is held in the Bislett Stadium, an arena that is almost sacred to the Norwegian people. Events include: Men: 100, 800, 1,500, 3,000, 110 hurdles, 3,000 steeple-chase, long jump and javelin; Women: 100, 800, 1,500, 3,000, 400 hurdles and high jump.
