Beit-Mery has a big romano-byzantine complex of temples, churches, baths, houses... near the ruins, and on top of the big roman temple is a modern convent. BEIT-MERY means house of the lord, and that is the phoenician god BAAL MARCOD, god of the dance and earthquakes. In the village many festivals take place, especially in the famous ALBUSTAN hotel located near the hill of DEIR EL QALAA
