Balneario Municipal de Arrayán

About

The El Arrayán district is one of the most picturesque areas of the city. It maintains a countryside appearance reminiscent of yesteryear, with forest-covered hills, deep valleys and the nearby rumble of the Mapocho River, which is still untainted by the raw sewage of Santiago. During the hot summer months of December, January and February, you can immerse yourself in the refreshing waters of this popular municipal swimming pool, which is located next to the river itself in the shadow of Pochoco Hill. There are concessions available for institutions and group visits, where individuals are charged a minimal fee. To reach the pool, take the metro to Escuela Militar and then catch any bus going towards Lo Barnachea Plaza San Enrique. Next, get off and either walk up the pretty tree-lined Pastor Fernández road until reaching Camino El Bajo, which takes about half an hour, or take one of the collective taxis found in the same plaza, which is a better option for those in a hurry.
