Ballater was founded in 1892 and the course was expanded from 9 to 18 holes in 1905. From the clubhouse the course looks quite flat but you soon discover plenty of rolling hills and humps. This medium length heathland course is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of upper Deeside. Several holes lie close to the River Dee. Ballater and the course lie within a circle of hills, which protect it from bad weather.
