About

Csárda means a restaurant near a major traffic area and this one is right next to a Cogwheel and bus stop, making it easy to access. Halász means fisherman and the interior is country style with heavy woods and fishing decor tastefully ornamenting the walls. However, in the Buda Hills, one would not expect to find a restaurant with an extensive fish menu, but here it is. The specialty is the traditional Bajai type of fish soup, which has a special pastry in it. But we bypassed anything fishy for the turkey stuffed with cheese and French fries. The five exceptionally large pieces of fried turkey were overflowing with cheese. It was moist and flavorful, but not exceptional. If you have a desire for fish dishes, this would be the place to go and other diners seemingly were enjoying their fresh-from-the-river tasty treats. There is a pianist and violinist serenading with American and Hungarian oldies. Every few songs, the pianist would belt out a song a la Piaf with a hauntingly romantic voice. The resident parrot's whistling in the background was a mix of humor and annoyance.
