Aynali Meyhane
Tramvay Caddesi 104 Cuisines: EuropeanAbout
The name Aynali means 'with mirrors', of which there are plenty in odd shapes and sizes on the whitewashed walls. The menu offers a simple selection of unusual Aegean specialties, including vegetarian dışhes. Specials include tasty nettles, poached celery root with apricots, cauliflower and walnuts, and braised lamb flavored with tart quinces. Live entertainment comes in the form of a gypsy band accompanied by a surly transvestite singer—they can in fact get positively raucous. You're welcome to dance if you like, but don't try to upstage the singer or you risk a prickly tongue-lashing!
